NW Nerdcast

The Northwest Nerdcast was the beloved podcast all about role-playing. It ran off and on for several years and was produced by Ron Leota. The podcast has been preserved here for future generations of gamers to enjoy. If the NW Nerdcast was something you enjoyed, you might also like Ron's new podcast (hosted on the main page).

 History:

Nerdcast 1.0:
The first iteration of the show ran from September 2012 to March 2014. The show was originally hosted by Danielle "Chloe" Monroe, Ron Leota, Mike Lamphere, and Will Carson. At the end of its run, Danielle unexpectedly left the show, due to contract issues from her budding career in the game industry. A beautiful farewell ends the Nerdcast 1.0 on episode 77.

NW Nerdcast 1.5:
After Danielle's departure, the Nerdcast did a minor restructure and continued on without breaking stride. Ron, Mike, and Will were joined by Taylor Alcock, who was already providing a voice in Taylor's Indie Game Corner. Many guests were featured from episode 78 to 136 (the full run of version 1.5).

With over 300 topics about LARPing and tabletop covered, there came a point where the well ran dry and the hosts wanted to move on to other projects. The Nerdcast officially ended on August 3rd, 2015 after 136 episodes.

NW Nerdcast 2.0:
Due to fan support and all the encouraging words we’d get almost a year after the original show was put on indefinite hiatus, the Nerdcast returned in the summer of 2016.

With all the original Nerdcasters (except for Ron) either too busy, no longer in the scene, or lacking the time; the show had to be rebuilt. A handful of guest hosts from the Nerdcast 1 and 1.5 days were approached. Ron recruited former guests Barb Martin, Kirstin Olin, and Caille Jensen to the fold and started a new.

In late 2017 it was announced that Caille would be leaving the show to focus on life and other endeavors. The show continued on with Ron, Barb, Kirsten, and a number of guest hosts. Eventually the group was joined by Brian Johnson to fill the final line-up of Nerdcasters.

The show ended unceremoniously at episode 057 (episode number restarted with 2.0) due to a lack of content production and mounting health issues for a couple of the Nerdcasters. The last episode being a wonderful interview with Larp creator Matt Webb of Jackalope Studios ending the 57 episode run and bringing the NW Nerdcast back to an indefinite hiatus status.
