The Roles We Play is a podcast hosted by Ron Leota and Steve Kelsey. On the 1st and 15th of every month Ron & Steve chat about the roles we play in the games we love. The show will focus on topical conversations related to gaming with the occasional special guest host. One of the main goals is to create a free form discussion to allow the hosts and their guests to share their passion about the roles we play in gaming. So while role-playing will definitely be a topic, any game that allows you to get lost in a role is welcomed content.

About the Hosts

Ron Leota grew up in Seattle, surrounded by arcades, Wizards of the Coast, Nintendo of America, and role-playing shops in every city. It started innocent enough, with a viewing of Star Wars: A New Hope, a first run through The Legend of Zelda, and it all snowballed from there.

Ron is a game developer, writer, and musician. He has been an avid gamer for 30+ years. Along with a “healthy” video game habit he is the creator of the Carmine: A RPG of Alchemical Fantasy, DnDizzle: Dragons in the Hood, and Laser Metal tabletop role-playing games (produced by Attention Span Games). He has been running Larp events for the past 10 years including Ostari GamesLeota Role-playing, Alliance Seattle, and Spite: A Science-fiction Larp. Ron was one of the founders and producer of the NW Nerdcast, a podcast all about role-playing (archived here).

Ron still resides in Seattle with his beloved wife Rebekah and their two cats Cid & Friday.

Steve is a nerdcore musician and content creator from Seattle, WA. Over the past decade he has been a performer in the group Death*Star, a nerdcore trio, and is now working diligently on his content site DyingofExposure.com (as well as his solo nerdcore material). Steve provides programming for local conventions in the form of panels, panel guests, and concert performances, as well as books showcases for touring geek music acts.

This former video game cover band musician turned geeky rapper turned content provider loves nothing more than to binge watch television for 18 straight hours while never moving of the couch, ordering all his food via app delivery, and avoiding the consequences and responsibilities that come with putting on pants. Steve is married to geek fandom and pop culture, but his wife Kelsey has power of attorney over him, so at least somebody responsible is watching over him.
